Tara Bohlen began studying violin at age 9 with the Suzuki Method. She graduated from St. Olaf College in 2001 with a Music Education Degree and received Suzuki teacher training through Hartt Suzuki Institute in 2011.
In the Fall of 2019, Tara Bohlen moved from North Dakota to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida with her husband, Josh Bohlen and their three children. Tara currently serves as violinist in the Panama City POPS orchestra. She is a recording artist and violinist in violin rap performing group, B-L'Attitude, which has been featured as guest artist with the Bismarck Mandan Civic Chorus, TedX, and live in Medora. The group has released "The First Noel" in 2019, “Ring Christmas Bells” single and music video in 2018, ”Elevated Love” full album and music video and Christmas Single and music video “Joy to the World” in 2017, and ”Heaven’s Door” Single and Music Video in 2016. Some of her videos may be viewed at the bottom of this page.
In 2016 she was voted as North Dakota’s Favorite Instrumentalist at the North Dakota Music Awards. She was solo violin artist with Bismarck Mandan Symphony Youth Orchestra in 2015. She was member of the Sonorus String Quartet, which had been featured on television program “Prairie Musicians” on PBS and was former violist of the North Dakota String Quartet.
Tara offers her students 20 seasoned years of music teaching experience on string instruments and piano along with a vast experience of live and video event performance. Her passion for violin (and other instruments) has been demonstrated over and over again as she has consistently immersed herself in the musical community. She was formerly the conductor of the Bismarck-Mandan Youth Symphony Orchestra and director at Love Attitude String Academy, teaching violin, viola, and cello as a private and group instructor to students of all ages and abilities. Formerly, Ms. Bohlen has previously resided in Bismarck, North Dakota where she was Associate Concert master of the Bismarck Mandan Symphony Orchestra, has served as Director of Bismarck Public School Orchestras and directed Strolling Strings Performance Group, a group which had taken performance tours to Washington D.C., Seattle, Washington, and Orlando, Florida. We are very excited to offer Tara's skills, passion, educational background, and performance experience to students.
Tara and her husband Josh are raising three daughters Hannah, Taliah, and Sylvia, who all play string instruments and are excited about making music and building community together in their own neighborhood on 30A, Santa Rosa Beach, and surrounding areas.
